該操作有三種境況：

（1）“拆卸拼裝”策略。只涉及句子的部分重新組裝；有時候，一些詞語要進行“意譯”或“轉譯”。

He always lives ahead of his salary.

*他總是生活在他工資之前。

他的生活開銷總是超過他的工資收入。

*I would suggest,however,that it should be limited to a definite period of time,let''s say two years,so as to avoid the encouraging of an abnormal attitude which refuses any kind of social obligation.

結構分析：句子的框架是I would suggest，that it should be limited to…，so as to avoid。attitude which refuses…。that引導賓語從句，作suggest的賓語。Let''s say two years作插入語，這個從句包含一個由so as to引導的目的狀語。關系代詞which引導定語從句，修飾attitude.it在此指代“subsistence”，意為“生活維持費”。

參考譯文：然而，我想建議，這種生活維持費必須限制在一定的期限內(nèi)，比如說兩年，以避免鼓勵一種反常的態(tài)度，即不肯承擔任何社會義務。

*However,the suspicions against a system of guaranteed subsistence minimum are not groundless from the standpoint of those who want to use ownership of capital for the purpose of forcing others to accept the work conditions they offer.

結構分析：句子的框架是…the suspicions against。are not groundless from。those who want to use…這個句子的主語比較長，介詞短語against a system of。作定語修飾the suspicions.關系代詞who引導定語從句，修飾those.groundless在此句中譯為“無根據(jù)的”。

參考譯文：然而，有些人想利用資本所有權來迫使其他人接受他們提供的工作條件。從這些人的立場來看，對最低生活保障制度持懷疑態(tài)度不是沒有道理的。

（2）“游移詞句策略”。整個英語句子不分前后部分，完全打亂后進行翻譯。其中發(fā)揮漢語的表達優(yōu)勢，例如漢語的狀語常常在句首，所以可以把狀語從原文中游移出來，另外譯成一句話。注意：原文中的and可靈活譯成漢語的詞組：“不但…而且…”。

The company''s top executives all are refugees from the country''s bureaucratic and underfinanced state research sector.

該公司的高層管理人員都來自該國的國家研究機構，這些機構不僅充滿官僚主義主義氣息，而且研究經(jīng)費不足，他們很難在那里呆下去。

Food manufacturers are flooding the UK market with new products // in response to rising demand // from a population hungry forsomething different.

顯然，此句在邏輯上可以分解為4組意群：

1）（there is）a population hungry for [形容詞短語作population的定語。]

2） the demand is rising

3） in response to this demand

4） food manufacturers are flooding…with…

英國人極想“嘗鮮/新”，要求與日俱增。針對這種情況，食品生產(chǎn)商正一個勁兒地向英國市場大量投放各種新產(chǎn)品。

*The opinions,which were current a hundred years ago,that the poor owed their conditions to their ignorance,lack of responsibility,are outdated.

結構分析：句子的框架是The opinions，which were current…，that the poor owed。to，are outdated.關系代詞which引導非限制性定語從句，修飾主語the opinions.關系代詞that引導同位語從句，作the opinions的同位語。謂語是are outdated.current在此句中澤為“流行的”。owe…to譯為“把……歸因于”。

參考譯文：100年前流行的看法認為，窮人應該把他們的狀況歸因于他們無知、缺乏責任心；但這種觀點現(xiàn)在已經(jīng)過時了。

*I believe we must restore our sense of wonder at the capacity to conjure up by forms,lines,shades or colors those mysterious phantoms of visual reality we callpictures.

結構分析：句子的框架是“主語＋謂語＋賓從”。Conjure up的賓語是those mysterious phantoms of visual reality，后跟定語從句we call “pictures”。by…shades or colors是方式狀語；conjure up原意是“使想起，回憶”，這里作“呈現(xiàn)”較好。

參考譯文：我認為，我們必須恢復對這種能力的驚奇感，這種能力能使我們借助于形式、線條、陰影或色彩來呈現(xiàn)那些我們稱之為“圖畫”的反映視覺現(xiàn)實的神秘幻景。

*The way the language of art refers to the visible world is both so obvious and so mysterious that it is still largely unknown except to artists,who use it as we use all language-without needing to know its grammar and semantics.

結構分析：本句主干是the way is so…that…句型；the way后跟定語從句，artists后跟一定語從句，從句后又跟了一個比較方式狀語從句；refer to原意為“提到；參考”，這里翻譯為“表達，描述”較恰當。

參考譯文：美術語言表達可見世界的方式是多么顯而易見，又是多么神秘莫測，因而，除了美術家外，對大多數(shù)人來說，多半還處于未知領域。美術家使用美術語言，正如我們使用一切語言一樣，并不需要懂得語言的語法知識和語義學知識。

（3）得“意”忘“形”策略（或稱“取意丟形”）。這種做法指的是：宏觀上可以不顧原句結構，同時想辦法將原句的意思“轉譯”出來，但這也并不排除句中的某些結構或詞句位置需要保持不變。

He acts a lot older // than his years.

*他的行為要比他的年歲老得多。

他年紀輕輕，做事卻相當老練。

The minimal cost for taking taxi // far outweighs the inconvenience // of being immobile in this vast urban area.

城區(qū)廣大，交通不便，無法走動，所以出這么點錢坐出租車還是非常劃得來的（上算的）。

Production capacity is grossly underused with many idle workers and machines obvious to any visitor to the state factory.

生產(chǎn)能力根本沒有充分利用。到這家國營工廠參觀，進入眼簾的是機器設備閑置，許多工人無濟于事。

[注釋：①with結構作狀語的翻譯；②注意一句話中，同一個形容詞“idle”的兩種譯法：“閑置”和“無濟于事”。
